Ontario PCs Reward Sarnia for Exceeding Housing Targets with $400,000 Through the Building Faster Fund

Ontario’s PC government is delivering results for families in Sarnia by awarding the city $400,000 through the second round of the Building Faster Fund. This funding rewards municipalities that are meeting and exceeding their housing targets — and Sarnia has done just that, breaking ground on 164 new homes in 2024, more than double its 2024 housing target at 198 per cent.

Premier Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs are working with Mayor Mike Bradley and local leaders to get more homes built, protect Ontario’s economy, and keep workers on the job.

The Building Faster Fund is a three-year, $1.2 billion program designed to encourage municipalities to speed up approvals and get shovels in the ground. Funding supports critical housing-enabling and community infrastructure, ensuring families can find homes close to where they work, live, and play.

Sarnia is also benefiting from nearly $8 million through Ontario’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program, helping unlock more than 2,700 new homes. Together with Ontario’s new Protect Ontario by Building Faster and Smarter Act, 2025, our government is cutting red tape, reducing delays, and giving municipalities every tool to build the homes families need.
